Ever since I was young, I've been surrounded by danger. Growing up in a rough part of Oakland, loss, danger, and hardships were very common things, and it was a struggle staying out of trouble
In 2006, my aunt Savannah was killed in a drive-by while in her car. After this happened, her daughters moved in with my mom and I. it was a hard time for all of us. We were coping with the loss of Savannah. As this brought my cousins and mom closer, it drove me to the sidelines. All of a sudden, I wasn't getting much attention from my mom anymore.
As I grew older, things got worse. Like I said, it was hard to stay out of trouble, and one day, my friends and I got arrested for fighting some kids in a park. We all went to Juvenile Hall. I was originally released on GPS, but then eventually was sent to live in a group home in Redding for a year.
