Storyboard Text

  • American settlers arrived in Texas in 1821.
  • Welcome to Texas!
  • Many settlers brought slaves with them.
  • Keep working!
  • Many American settlers ignored the laws of Mexico
  • I'm not going to follow these rules!
  • Many Mexican officials complained that Texans didn't show enough respect towards the government.
  • They don't do anything we say!
  • A group of Texans met and formed a temporary government dedicated to overthrowing Santa Anna, Mexico's leader.
  • We'll overthrow Santa Anna.
  • Texan volunteers soon captured 2 towns, Goliad & San Antonio. In San Antonio, the Texans occupied the Alamo, an old Franciscan mission. Santa Anna brought 3000 troops to the Alamo, outnumbering the 189 Texans within. The Mexican troops surround the Alamo for 13 days, during which a man called Seguin is sent by the Texans to get reinforcements. On 3/6/1838, the Mexicans attacked. While they wiped out all those in the Alamo who fought, their own troops were heavily damaged.
  • Remember the Alamo!
