  • The first example of a stressor is the bad test grade. The fear of a bad grade is one stressor teens face.
  • Tests back today
  • A 52%?!? My parents are going to kill me!!
  • The second stressor is the pressure her parents put on her to get good grades, and how they tell her that college depends on her grades. This is an example is distress.
  • 52?!?!
  • You do know that your grades will affect what college you get into right?? You need to try harder next time
  • Well, I've been having a lot of headaches and sometimes I feel fatigued or my heart rate speeds up. I've just been rlly overwhelmed by school work.
  • What's been the problem?
  • All of the stress you have been experiencing has caused you to experience the negative physical effects. Long term effects include anxiety, depression and obesity.
  • There is many different strategies to deal with the bad stress. Relaxation uses deep breathing. guided imagery and clinical hypnosis. Affirming your values helps you focus on your strengths and feel good about yourself.
  • What can I do to deal with my stress?
  • Actually not all stress is bad, some is good. This is called eustress.  
  • Thank you! I feel a lot better now that I know how to deal with my stress.
