  • But since the French helped us in the revolutionary war, we should help them
  • We are the federalists! We believe in emphasis on manufacturing, shipping, and trade. We also favor the national bank and protective tariff.
  • We are the Democratic Republicans! We believe in emphasis on agriculture. Also, we are against the national bank and the protective tariff.
  • Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton had many opposing ideas. Slowly, the political parties did form. They became Federalists vs. Republicans.
  • The central government should be the strongest! Also, we should not follow the constitution word for word!
  • The state government should be the strongest! We don't want another monarchy! Also, the constitution was written for a reason. We should follow it.
  • Only the wealthy and educated should be part of the government!
  • These are the beliefs of the Federalists, who were led by Alexander Hamilton.
  • That is absurd! The people should have power too!
  • These are the beliefs of the Democratic Republicans, who were led by Thomas Jefferson.

  • The two parties interpreted the constitution differently, and had opposing views on which government should be the strongest.
  • The two parties also disagreed on who should be in the government, and who should helping this country.
