  • Symbol
  • yah..umm..sure  ill help you
  • can somone help me with the box?
  • Imagery
  • oh no please not him
  • Oh my god
  • Figurative Language
  • My symbol is the back box. The reason I put the black box is because it represents fear in this story. '' Mr Summers set the black box down on it. the villagers kept there distance leaving a space between them and the stool. and when Mr Summers asked can anyone give me a hand there was a hesitation'' found on  line 47-50 its important because every year it was the time that everyone hated and was scared wether or not they would get picked to have to die to keep crops women children familys.
  • Tone/theme
  • My imagery is ''Bill Hutchins was standing quiet , staring at his paper.'' i picked this because it represents that he got picked the first try and that he is scared. my evidence around it is  ''Suddenly Tessi Hutchinson shouted to Mr Summeers'' you didnt give him time enough to take anypaper he wanted. I saw you it wasnt fair.''' Found on lines 228-230 I find it important beacuse it shows for scared people where to ge picked and how even your family will do anything to keep there family together
  •
  • My figure of speech is ''lottery in june, corn be heavy soon.'' its a Idiom it meant that  the tottery is in june and they need to do it so the corn crops will grow. My evidence is ''a ritual salute  which the official of the tottery had had to use  in addressing eavh person who had come up to get a paper'' i found my evidence to support on line 118 i think its inportant because it shows tradition and repition and the reason on why they do it every year .
  •
  • The thme of the story is They stoned somone for tradition for crops to grow. And the tone is nervous town people and how there afraid on who will die to save tradition for there crops. People would stay away from the black box and hold the hnahs of there loved ones ''Small children rolled in the dust and clung to the hands of there brothers, and sisters.'' Foud in line 26 shows for poeple whee scared to loose loved ones.
