Storyboard Text

  • One Eva Smith has gone- but there are millions and millions and millions of Eva Smiths and John Smiths
  • There lives, their hopes and fears.
  • All intertwined with our lives, and what we think and say and do. We are members of one body.
  • Face and stare at family sternly. His position should be facing the family from the other side of the stage. (Representing the right-wing and the Left-wing).
  • We are responsible for each other.
  • Stark White lighting to represent how everything has become clear. Stress the words 'lives', 'hopes', 'fears'.
  • If men will not learn that lesson, then they will be taught in fire, blood and anguish.
  • Pause before the last line to create tension. On the last line he should stress all the words and slightly raise his volume.
  • Good night.
  • Walk towards centre forward. Lighting will turn into one spotlight on him. He is now talking to the audience.
  • Lighting stays the same. Give eye contact to the audience. Stress each word. A cyclorama projects an image of a fire.
  • Light comes up back to stark white. Sheila and eric are on the opposite side of the table to their parents. The inspector gives them all eye contact and leaves stage left. Spotlight is shined on the audience.
