Perseus, gracious of Hermes help, sets off for the gray land. He seeks to find more about his new world and discover how to kill Medusa without getting himself killed. This is where he first discovers what his special world is like.
Perseus arrives in the gray land and is told Hermes plan to learn how to find the Nymphs of the North. He is afraid and faces death. He must steal the one eye the three Gray Women share, which he successfully does.
Perseus arrives on the island of the Gorgons where Medusa lives. He is in a perilous situation with the possibility of the Gorgons waking up and turning him to stone. He eventually cuts off Medusa's head and returns to his ordinary world.

Perseus returns home, carrying Medusa's head. Hermes is no longer with him. Now Perseus must face the king alone.
Perseus returns home to Polydectes who doesn't believe Perseus completed the task. He refuses to be mocked and turns the ruler to stone. He then places Dictys as ruler.
Perseus returns to Argos. There he competes in the discus throwing, using what he has learned from his adventures. He fulfills the prophecy and kills King Acrisius.
