The Air Army was more prepared now for a Water attack. They had been told by their king to expect the unexpected. They had 40,000 soldiers, 40 cannons and 5,000 barrels of food in case of a siege. These men had lots of training and experience to fight off a army.
That night, General Adams led 30,000 soldiers through the rain. This made it hard to walk across the path. Plus, they had to take the long way to Fort William because if they took the short way, their chance to win would be low. While the Air Army was sleeping, they were walking. Though, now they could do a sneak attack at night and win the battle.
Later that night, the Water Army finally arrived at the fort. They started to fire their weapons at the fort. Then some recruits arrived for the Water Army. Then the Air Army finally woke up to the guns and started to fight. Sadly, it was to late for them. Water troops had done lots of damage to the fort and now had 50,000 troops.
The Water Army laid siege to the fort. 30,000 men blocked the fort so that no one could escape from it. They threw grenades at it with to destroy the fort. Luckily the Air Army had 5,000 barrels of food to feed their troops until reinforcements came. After 4 days, Water still couldn't destroy the fort.
Finally 60,000 Air troops arrive. They come to the aid of the troops inside of the fort and stop the siege. Then the following the forced the Water Army into retreat, expelling them from the fort. This time the victory went to Air.
The battle helped convinced many Water leaders that the only solution to Air's taxes on them was independence from Air. The loss also inspired thousands of Water people to join the fight for independence. Many wanted revenge on Air because of the loss. The soldiers bravery increased and after many other battles, Water finally had independence.
Now the only way to solve these problems is independence.
The Air king has declared us of high treason and the only solution is war.
