Storyboard Text

  • Let’s go on a quest to see what’s beyond the Grey Havens!
  • Wunderbar!
  • Do I have to?
  • My feet hurt.
  • Gandalf's trying to stop one of the metal monsters so we can ride it.
  • It doesn't seem to be working.
  • What are you doing? This is how you hail a cab.
  • No magic? That's so weird!
  • Everything about this place is weird. Or maybe Middle Earth is weird? I'm so bewildered.
  • Social Location--the corners of life that people occupy because of where they are located in society. These three come from a similar social location, especially compared to New Yorkers.
  • Sociological perspective--understanding human behavior by placing it within its social context. Wizards don't understand that you ride inside cars.
  • Sociological imagination--the ability to see the connections between our personal experience and the larger forces of history. Gandalf is beginning to understand that what he thinks about magic is influenced by Middle Earth's history of magic.
