• Now we will calculate the distance of my shot.
• I have calculated the equation of the parabola of my shot; d= -h2 +9h +2 , d representing the distance and h representing the height.
• yeah, this looks hard :(
• It's not that hard once you get the hang of it.
• All you have to do is plug the numbers from the equation into the quadreatic formula.
• How do I know which numbers go in for a, b, and c?
• The equation I gave you for the parabola is written in this format.
• Oh, that makes sense! So we just substitute the values from the equation into the formula
• ax2 + bx + c = 0
• Yep! That's exactly how you do it
• Who wants to solve for the x-intercepts to determine how far I can shoot?
• I will!
• Good work! We only use one of the answers because the negative one is the extraneous solution         (I would not throw a negative distance)
• So that means you can shoot 9.22 meters! AMAZING!
