  • Abraham Lincoln was elected President of US in 1861. He ended with slaveowning
  • People from the south of US didn't like these laws. North and South ended in a war. In the end, people from the North won and slaveowning became illegal.
  • After 1865, there were no more black slaves in America. But black people in the South didn't have the same rights.
  • This place is only for white people!
  • GET OUT!
  • In the Second World War, black soldiers fought bravely for America. Even so, they were segregated. They couldn't fight beside white soldiers
  • Black soldiers had seen that in other countries, black and white people had the same rights. So when they returned to America, they claimed for their rights.
  • After World War II, many whites realized that their conuntry was racist. White politicians started to listen to black people and black people were ready for a leader, they were ready for Martin L. King.
