Storyboard Text

  • Not today Sally, my tummy hurts. I think I need to go to the doctor
  • Hey Amelia do you want to come and build sandcastles?
  • Coeliac (See-lee-yak) Disease is when your body gets inflamed when you eat something called gluten.
  • Is that why I'm smaller than the other kids at school?
  • What does it do?
  • When you eat food, you have things that look like little fingers in your small intestine called vili (vil-eye) which pick up all the nutrients your body needs to grow. But when you eat gluten your body attacks the fingers and they don't work properly.
  • Gluten is a protein in food made from wheat, barley, rye and oats. That means if you eat things like bread, pasta, pizza, cereals or cake made from these ingredients you might feel sick.
  • Oh no! Never again? What can I eat then?
  • Eat Any Naturally Gluten Free Foods!     - Dairy     - Meat     - Fruit     - Veggies     - Eggs     - Nuts     - Beans     - Rice     - Corn
