On December 31st, 2019, WHO was informed of cases of pneumonia of unknown cause that was detected in Wuhan City, Hubei. The outbreak began in a seafood and poultry market in Wuhan and human to human transmission was confirmed.
On March 11th, 2020, WHO declared the COVID-19 viral disease as a pandemic.
As of April 16th, 2020, the virus had spread to 185 countries.
Most countries have implemented travel bans and restrictions, with various social distancing measures (school and public places closed) in an effort to slow COVID-19 spread and to flatten the curve.
