  • Chris McCandle's was a regular man, who had a loving, caring and normal family. But Chris was craving more than his ordinary life. He was in search for more.
  • You make me happy. But I need something more. Something,Free.
  • But chris?!
  • Chris started his journey to ultimate happiness, and freedom. He hitchhiked, and met people to get him to his destination.
  • Im going to live free! I ALREADY FEEL HAPPY.
  • Chris made it too Alaska. The primary setting. He was More than happy. He could live without outside distractions and live among nature and be totally self reliant.
  • The conflict in the novel is man vs. Nature. Chris soon realizes that nature is defeating him. He's fighting starvation, disease, and a dangerous environment.
  • I have to go home
  • The Climax of the story happens when chris realizes that he could not leave Alaska because a river had flooded. He was stuck
  • I am never getting out of here. I miss my family.
  • Chris experienced absolute freedom. Living with nature, truly free. But Nature won. Nature showed Chris that he didn't belong there. Chris died in a bus, alone, from starvation. Nature will always win.
  • Happiness is only real when shared.
