Then appointed an assembly to draft the Saint-Domingue Constitution and made it independent from France.
In 1801 Louverture took control of the entire island of Santo Domingo.
After that, Napolean Bonaparte sent troops to take over to Saint- Domingue to reestablish slavery.
Louverture held out against the french invasion for months.
Then, Louverture was captured by the French and died in 1803.
On January 1, 1804 Haiti declared its independence from France.
That includes all of the Haitian Revolution.
