The Progressive Movement
The Progressive Movement was a social, political, and economic movement that set out to correct the problems of the Gilded Age. There were 4 goals put in place to fix these problems.
We are part of the Social Gospel Movement. We help make peoples lives better in all aspects, including spiritually. We founded the YMCA and the Salvation Army, both as organizations to help the less fortunate and poor at the turn of the century.
The first goal was to improve peoples lives.
I am Carry Nation. I am fighting for prohibition, which means banning alcohol. I have an odd way of doing it, though. I run into saloons and break all of the bottles with my hatchet. I have been arrested for this over 50 times, but I wont be stopped until prohibition is an amendment.
The second goal was to improve moral and personal behavior.
I am Eugene V. Debs, a part of the American Socialist Party. We are a group of people who question capitalism and favor government control of business rather than private ownership. This is the radical form of progressivism.
The third goal was economic reform.
The fourth goal was to foster efficiency in the workplace and government.
I'm so exhausted!
I am Frederick Winslow Taylor, and I am an efficiency expert. I invented a process known as scientific management, or "Taylorism".However, I am a very inhuman person. In order to maximize efficiency, I overwork the employees.
