  • No, let's join the British
  • One night the members of Washington's Cabinet came together for a nice dinner. Hamilton wanted to make a financial plan to help out the country. Jefferson didn't like this idea.
  • Washington Retires
  • I am sorry to say but I am stepping down as president...
  • The whiskey rebellion was a tax protest from 1791-1794. The rebellion was led by the Revolutionary war veteran, Major James McFarlane. Citizens were mad about the taxes so the protest started.
  • XYZ Affair
  • Give us money!
  • Some Americans wanted to join the French in the French Revolution. Others wanted to join the British. Among the cabinet members, there was a big debate. In the end Washington chose to stay neutral.
  • Alien and Sedition act
  • That's a dumb law. It breaks the rules of the first amendment
  • I have a new law. It is called the Alien and Sedition acts
  • This law is good and will help the Federalists
  • March 1797 Washington decided to retire. After being President for 8 years, it was time for Washington to retire. In his farewell speech, he warned the country about political parties and much more.
  • The XYZ affair almost started a war between France and America. The French wanted money because they were in a rough time with the revolution going on. America couldn't spare any because they were in debt from the war.
  • We don't have any!!
  • The Federalist passed this act because they felt the Democratic-Republican wanted "aliens" because they thought they would have sympathy and side with the French. This act made it harder for immigrants to vote in the US. The sedition part of the act meant that you could not talk bad about the government. Which violated the first amdement.
