A little boy wanting to feel grown by buying a gun can cause a turn of events to where he is trialed like and adult
"Dave! Yuuuuuh Daaaaave!"
The Man Who Was Almost a Man
Dave gave Joe the two dollars and his gun catalog and felt accomplished.
"got meh pay"
Now morning, after a night holding th gun in the field realizing its power.
Dave was excited that he was finally able to get a gun after his mom gave him two dollars he made his way towards Joe's Store. Ignoring his mom's calls, Dave was set on the idea of becoming a man.
That morning Dave went to work early so he could finally shoot his gun, his boss, Mr. Hawkins told him to get started on the stretch by the woods.
"Jenny ... Jenny,"
He went back home knowing that his mom would want to see it to hide the object from his father, but he wanted to keep this comfort close to him and put it right under his pillow.
His mother was mad and decided that what he did was unjustifiable and now he had to face Mr.Hawkins.
"looks like yuh done bought yuh a dead mule"
"Whu yuh do wid it?"
Dave woke up that morning holding the gun that was hidden away under his pillow that night and he had a sense of power, the power that anyone will respect him if he had this object, and that nothing could stand in his way.
After slipping out of his home, he knew he was tired of being babied and was ready to get out, he decided to make a stop by Mr.Hawkins house and show him what he could do.
Dave was ready, he was ready to unleash the power the gun held within. He told Jenny to be calm while he shot the gun and not to "... run n acka fool now!" Dave held the gun at arm's length, closed his eyes, and shot the gun. It was painful, it about broke his hand, noticing that he shot Jenny he decided to bury the gun at the foot of a tree.
Becoming upset at the laughter of the crowd, all the kept doing was laugh at him when he didn't understand what was happening. This made him wish that he would show them who is the "man". He decided to not tell his parents where the gun was so he could still keep it.
Reaching the hill Dave felt proud of himself, he loved the feeling of that gun sagging in his pocket. He decided that he could be a man elsewhere after hopping on the train.
