Have you ever wondered about Mohenjo-Daro? Mohenjo-Daro lived about 5000 years ago. He lived where the modern countries of Pakistan and northern India. Mohenjo-Daro's civilization lived by the Indus river.
Well, I should probably start off by telling you where they lived. Mohenjo-Daro's civilization lived in clay houses that had no windows. Their houses did not have windows so it would stay cooler inside. These people were at their homes most of the time because they also worked at their homes.
The Indus people had to stay clean, too right? Their showers were a little different from ours. If you were to ask them what a shower was they would say family members dumping water on them. Now, as for relieving themselves there was a pipe that emptied the sewer water to the streets.
Now, lets talk about their seals. Their seals were a stamp like thing pressed into clay then fired to make it more durable. After they were done Indus people wore them as jewlery.
The Indus people were very religious. They believed in a mother goddess called Sakti. They also think of cows as a sacred animal. When they bathed they believed they were becoming pure.
So the Indus people did not have everything they needed really close by to where they lived. The Indus people traded away from their city. Most Indus people did not have a lot of money so they exchanged goods.
