HEY! I'm doing a school project on the Four Fundamentals of Culture.
Could you explain to me the four fundamentals of culture? I don't really understand.
For Sure!! we can start after school.
That's awesome! I just finished my project on the same thing.
Nice to see you again! Do you know what the Four Fundamentals of culture are?
I sure do! they are:-Concept of self (either an individualist or a collectivist)-personal vs. sociatle obligations (universalism or particularism)-Concept of time (monochronic or polychronic) -Locus of control (activism and fatalism)
Can you explain the concept of self?
Well, there are two categories of concept of self; individualist and collectivist. In the first video, grandma Lala demonstrates collectivism because she is extremly close and protective to her family but is untrusting of outside groups such as the government.

The first video explains this really well! Grandma Lala uses Particularism when sayimg that family is first and that not everyone is treated the same. She also uses Universalism when she says that she doesnt want any help at all, from famiky and friends or the goverment.
How would you explain the concept of time?
In the second video, the chief talk about how the two creatures had to wait until they reached the earth before looking over the wall. This explains how the native people think time is monochronic and you must do things at a specific time.
Thank you so much for all your help today!! One last thing... can you teach me about the final Fundamental.
The final Fundamental is the Locus of control. This is well explained in the last video when Coyote used Activism to create his one fate and future when his previous plans didn't work out, instead of giving up and saying that was what was supposed to happen.
