  • Good morning everyone! My name is Emily and I'm going to be your occupational therapist today. We are going to be talking a little bit about habits and routines and how we can balance them while in recovery. I want to first go around and have everyone say their name and say their favorite leisurely activity
  • Hi my name is Erica, and my favorite activity is reading
  • Hi my name is Nikki, and my favorite activity is laying by the pool
  • Hi I'm Rachel, I don't have a favorite activity
  • Hi my name is Maddy, and my favorite activity is hiking
  • Rachel, can we challenge that and think if there is anything at all in the whole world that you like to do?
  • Okay, that's fine for now. Let's use this group to explore activities
  • I like to not be here 
  • Okay so now what I want everyone to do is take out a piece of paper and write down three activities their eating disorders stops them from doing and put them in this hat. The goal for today's group is to identify what is meaningful to you and how to get you back to that
  • Going to dinner with friends... I have started to do this again but didn't for a long time
  • Now I want everyone to pick out an activity and explain why or why it is not meaningful to you
  • Hiking... my doctor told me I couldn't do this anymore so that's why I'm here getting treatment so I can again
  • I don't want to share
  • Singing karaoke... I would never get in front of people where they could see my body, it's so fat
  • Nikki, have you been able to find other activities similar to hiking that you are allowed to do?
  • Yes, I have been able to go on a walk with my dog for 20 minutes so that has kept me motivated
