The Beginning of the Journey of the Sperm By: Emily & Liz
The millions of wizards released, and in order for them to get to the deathly hallows, they must go through all the phases.
Phase One Vagina
Harry and Voldemort both want to reach the deathly hallows first, they must get through the womping willow first!
The womping willow is very dangerous because it has self defense prospects that could easily kill them.
Phase Two Cervix
Once they got through the womping willow, they had to go through a small passage way to get to the shrieking shack, from here one by one they will take the floo network to get out.
The Journey of the Sperm goes through many phases, and as millions of sperm are released, sometimes even less then ten will reach the fallopain tubes. There are different challenges to get throughout each location during the journey. Different locations are the vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes/fertilize, and uterus/implantation.
Phase Three Uterus
The floo network left them in the forbidden forest which is a big open space, here dementors try to kill them, many won't make it.
In the vagina even though millions of sperm are released about 99% of the sperm will die within 30 minutes because of deadly acids that are in the vagina to protect it from pathogens.
Phase Four Fallopain Tubes & Fertilization
Once the wizards made it past the forbidden forest some found a passage way to the great hall. Here they get food and are safe, bu then they see their goal, the deathly hallows.
In the cervix the 1% of the remaining sperm have to find their way through the cervix. This can be hard for the sperm because the cervix usually plugged with mucus. Though during ovulation estrogen that is released softens the mucus to the sperm can pass through. If the sperm is able to pass through the mucus many die because they must go single file.
Phase Five Uterus & Implantation
It was a fast and dangerous race, but in the end Harry made it first. Then Harry and the deathly hallows combined into one power to ultimately defeat Voldemort in the forbidden forest.
.n the uterus, the remaining sperm that made it through the cervix then are in the open area of the uterus. In the uterus the sperm are forced to try and navigate their way to the fallopian tube. Though they are also attacked by white blood cells called Leukocytes that try to protect the uterus from danger
In the fallopian tube, the remaining once they reach them, are safe, from dangers such as the white blood cells. Here the sperm are given nourishment and are able to stay alive from three hours up to days. During fertilization, the sperm then attempt to find the egg. The egg only lives for 24 hours if not fertilized. If the sperm makes contact with the egg, it will combine with it. From there the 23 chromosomes from the sperm combine with the 23 chromosomes with the egg.
If the sperm fertilizes the egg, and they combine, then the zygote, or combination of the sperm and the egg then travels through the fallopian tubes to the uterus. The cells begin dividing and turn into a tiny bundle of cells named a blastocyst. Five days later, the zygote will connect with the wall of the uterus and implant itself there so that it can start growing,
