Clay: We propose that Maine in the Northeast, enter the union as a free state.
We also think that if the compromise would work we would have half of the slaves on one side and the other would be free of slaves.
What also caused it was that Missouri wanted to be a slave state
Some people want to keep our states free form slavery and some wanted slavery so we wanted to make an agreement to keep the opposing states even.
I think that the compromise was not a good idea because we aloud slavery, which is never a good idea. Also, all those people were probably good and it messed up the states and the compromise didn't work.
I agree, slavery wasn't meant to be apart of the state.
We had a purpose to this compromise. It was to settle things between the slavery and non-slavery and all they wanted was a eqaul amount.
We only had a pupose and it was just to be equal to slaves.
There were many impacts to this compromise but it maintained the balance of salvery and non-slavery states.
Some even talked about excluding slavery from the state
I think that Henry Clay did like the compromise because it was his idea. He wanted to divide the slaves and making it easier and he really wanted to become a half state.
For some people the compromise went well but for some it did not and it helped slavery by making the state non-slavery and slavery.
