Storyboard Text

  • After the kindom is split, Israel goes through a period of weak rulers and hardships. In 586 B.C., the Babylonians destory the temple built by Solomon. The temple is rebuilt but will again be destroyed by the Romans.
  • King Nebuchadnezzar besieges Jerusalem and a number of Israelites are captives in Babylon. King Jehoiakim eventually pays tribute to Nebuchadnezzar. Toward the end of the exile, Cyrus of Persia allows Jews into Persia.
  • Covenant - a mutual promise or agreement Abraham - the Hebrew patriarch from whom all Jews trace their descent Moses - led the Israelited across the desert towards the Promised Land; received the 10 Commandments Israel - the Hebrew people/nation; also the northern kingdom of the Hebrews Judah - the southern part of the nation belonging to the Hebrews Canaan - the biblical name for the area of ancient Palestine west of the Jordan River; the Promised Land of the Israelites
