  • The main result of the Power Struggle in 1821 between the Peninsulares and Criollos was the Mexican Independence.
  • A STRUGGLE FOR POWER IN 1821
  • Because they were born in Spain, Peninsulares thought they were Culturally and Socially superior to the Criollos.
  • I'm better because I was born in Spain!!
  • The Peninsulares held most of the political power and wealth of the colony.
  • We hold most of the power and money!!
  • The Criollos however thought they would be better leaders and rulers compared to Peninsulares.  
  • We are better leaders and rulers!!
  •  They believed this because they were born in the colony and thought they better understood the needs of the people.
  • We better understand the people!
  • After a decade of war, Mexico won it's independence from Spain, but they suffered from many problems and was not strong.
