I am a mosquito. I was just born out of all of this swampy, stagnant water where someone laid my egg. While we were in the water we had to be careful that fish, frogs, birds, and turtles didn't eat us. Mosquitoes normally eat nectar besides when females need to lay eggs. Then they have to drink blood for protein. So that's what I'm doing now, finding a flower.
That took forever! I only fly at about 1.25 mph! Yummy! Uh oh, it's almost morning time, I have to get to bed before all of the killer birds come out! Good thing there are some thick weeds over there I can sleep in! Luckily it's summer and warm in the night otherwise I would be hibernating right now or when it got down to 50 degrees.
I only live from 42-56 days so I need to find an animal, not necessarily humans, so I can get protein to lay eggs. I will find the perfect, not really hairy, animal with my thermal vision. I am also attracted to their breath, carbon dioxide.
That is good protein! I am part of our species. All of us makes up our population. All of the populations and how they interact with each other, like us and the cows, are called communities. Finally, all of the communities make up our lovely ecosystem.
I'm going to get him! I'm going to do it!
Flying this high is dangerous. Dragonflies, birds, and especially bats will want to eat me!
5 seconds later...
This is me. The mosquito that has to move our first level consumer energy up the energy pyramid. I hope he gets eaten by a hawk or owl and passes his energy up! I would've laid eggs, traveled, and eaten some more yummy nectar! I would've had a long life! Tomorrow I was going to lay eggs and relax!
