  • This compromise isn't helping us, it's going to upset the balance.
  • The Northern states did not believe in slavery. They wanted slavery banned/restricted. The Compromise of 1850 would not help them end slavery, it would be expanding it. 
  • Southern Slave States: Why did they support it?
  • We are going to do whatever it takes to get Missouri to becomes slave state!
  • The Northerners believed that the people should decided if the new state would allow slavery.
