  • the protagonist opens the story by describing his new car sharing his excitment to drive it in the first person narrative. he sees a hitchhker on the side of the road and decides to offer him a ride.
  • Going to London, guv'nor?
  • yes,jump in!
  • hm...he looks some sort of huge human rat.
  • the protagonist meets the hitchhiker and describes his physical apperance and tries to learn more more about him by asking questions  learning that he is going to the races.
  • what part of london are u heading for?
  • i'm goin' to Espom.It's Derby Day today.
  • speed limmit 70 miles per hour.
  • they start talking about their jobs and the hitchhiker challenges the protagonist to see how fast the car can go. he is speeding when they were stopped by a police officer.
  • i bet this car cant go at one hundred and twenty miles per hour.
  • i'll bet she can!
  • stop you are speeding!
  • i will need to take both of your details,you will be paying a hefty fine and i will be meeting you in court
  • the two are lectured by the police officer for speeding, the takes their details and books the driver issuing him a hefty fine and penalty.he got into trouble because of the hitchhiker dared him to speed. while in a terribly state, the driver starts to wonder why the hitchhiker lied to the police officer and becomes suspicous of him.
  • what!
  • hmm... i wonder the hitchhiker lied?
  • the driver questions the hitchhiker and reveals that there's more to him than meets the eye. he performs a simple demonstration to show the driver what he actually does for a living and the driver is amazed.
  • why did you lie to the police officer?
  • let me show you something
  • what makes you think i lied
  • you are brilliant!
  • so what do you call yourself?
  • the hitchhiker reveals his true identity and reveals something which makes the driver both nervous,excited and relieved all at once.
