  • Can you tell us about the most important people behind the cell theory?
  • Of course kids!
  • One important man was Robert Hooke. Hooke coined the term "cell" for the individual compartments he saw.
  • It will be called the cell!
  • Look at what I found!
  • This is Robert Brown. He is the man who discovered the nucleus in plant cells.
  • I'm Schwann and I reached the conclusion that animal tissues are also composed of cells.
  • I'm Schleiden and I proposed that all plant tissues are composed of cells.
  • This is Matthias Schleiden and Theodor Schwann. 
  • Lastly, this is Rudolf Virchow. He discovered that all cells develop only from existing cells.
  • Students, now that you know, what are the three parts of the cell theory?
  • 1. All organisms are composed of 1 or more cells. 2. Cells are the basic unit of structure and function.  3. Cells come from preexisting cells.
