Storyboard Text

  • North we go, Army!
  • I have stayed here for too long! We are attacking TOMORROW!
  • Yes, General!
  • Abd er Rahman, the Muslim governor of Spain, led his army on a rampage. They defeated Duke Eudes and his army at Bordeaux, and then marched north to the River Loire.
  • After hearing this news, the mayor of Austrasia, Charles Martel, gathered together his army and marched south to meet Abd er Rahman's force.
  • We surrender!
  • In the first six days, the two armies only had minor skirmishes. It wasn't until the 7th day that Abd er Rahman didn't want to wait anymore and ordered his army to start the battle.
  • Abd er Rahman continued to attack the Franks charge after charge. But surprisingly, the Franks' well-disciplined infantry held the brutal force of the Muslim cavalry.
  • Finally, the weary Muslim Army retreated, leaving the Franks and Charles Martel victorious.
  • RUN!
  • After his victory at the Battle of the Tours, Charles Martel "The Hammer" would beat the Muslims again in a battle near the River Berre.
