The park is a spot where Johnny killed bob, this relates to Ponyboy because the main conflict was playing out. Ponyboy was being jumped by a socs (graser vs socs). More importantly Ponyboy had to make the decision to run away with here. This is important because Ponyboy was feeling scared and worried but still went with Johnny.
Cherrie relates to Ponyboy because they met at a drive-in but talked despite the fact that they are from different gangs. Cherrie also decided to help the Greasers and Ponyboy. Cherrie really helped Ponyboy by talking to him, and listening to what Ponyboy had to say.
Greasers and Socs is the main conflict in The Outsiders. The Socs have jumped Pony before and used there conflict to take advantage of Ponyboy. Another example was when Ponyboy to Cherrie about his opinion about Socs(the time when Johnny got jumped). This impacted Ponyboy because he had thought that all Socs were bad but, after talking to Cherrie he realized they not all of them are bad. The conflict really impacted Pony.
