Storyboard Text

  • Why won't they help us?!
  • I've got an idea!
  • Spain has held Cubans in camps!
  • How are you planning to fix things with Spain without a war?
  • War. That's what will work.
  • Valeriano Weyler, a Cuban general forced tons of Cubans into guarded camps, and the Cubans begged for help. They needed to get the U.S. attention, so they used yellow journalism.
  • How about all will be accepted except the 4th one?
  • Demands 1.Compensation for the Maine 2. An end to reconcentrated camps 3. A truce in Cuba 4. Cuban Independence.
  • Yeah, that's really going to work...
  • Does that mean war?
  • The Cubans pleaded for help, but the Americans denied. Luckily for the Cubans, the U.S.S Maine blew up and the Americans blamed Spain.
  • CHARGE!!!!!!!
  • WAIT! It's been a year
  • The Treaty of Paris blah blah blah blah blah Signatures:______________
  • True...
  • How about we sign a Peace treaty?
  • President Mckinley was a peaceful man, and he hesitates for war even though Americans plead for it.
  • I here by declare: Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines ours!
  • Mckinley's last attempt to maintain peace is to give a list of demands to Spain. They agreed to all but the last one.
  • That was the final straw, it called for war. This war lasted from April 11, 1898-Feb.1899. After this war, a peace treaty was signed that the U.S signed with Spain. This is called the Treaty of Paris.
  • The U.S gained some territories in result of this short war. Our 50th state, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines were gained.
  • Victory!
  • Told you!
