  • Us Democrats are too divided by the division of Southerners and Westerners. Southerners endorse slavery, while Westerners want popular sovereignty!
  • South Carolina is the first state to secede, even before Lincoln takes office. By the time Lincoln is in office, 6 other states had seceded.
  • The democratic split led to 4 candidates in the election of 1860: John C. Breckinridge (southern democrat) , John Bell (constitutional union), Stephen A. Douglas (northern democrat), Abraham Lincoln (republican)
  • Lincoln is victorious becoming the 16th president of the USA , with 180 electoral votes and 39.9% popular vote!
  • WE HATE LINCOLN! We need to secede from the Union!
  • The Union is gonna lose this civil war...slavery will continue!
  • Yeah right...
  • The secession of Southern states leads to the creation of the Confederate States of America. Eventually , fighting occurs between the North and South; a Civil War.
