Mr. Rudman had called Melissa into his office at the University of Mississipi. She went in wondering what he was going to talk to her about. As they talked, he mentioned the graduate program at The Ohio State University and suggested that she think about it.
She went back to her dorm room and began to think about whether or not she wanted to go to graduate school. She decided to do some research about The Ohio State University and the graduate programs they offered and the requirements for applying.
A few weeks later, she decided to go home to Ripley, Mississippi, and talk with her mother about going to graduate school to earn a master of science degree. She thought discussing the pros and cons with her mother would help her in making a decision.
As she explained her dilemma, she felt very conflicted on whether or not she could achieve that as it would take a lot of hard work. Then her mother said, "You don't know unless you try." That's what helped her decide to apply for graduate school.
After that, she had to complete four steps. First, she had to apply online to The Ohio State University. She felt that what really convinced her to go was what her mother had said. She felt happy because she was confident she had made the right decision.
The next step was she needed to write an essay explaining why she wanted to go to graduate school to get a master of science degree. She was feeling nervous and excited about applying.
