Ben was walking down his street when he noticed his neighbours had gotten some strange mirrors on their roof.
Ben was confused as to why his neighbours would put mirrors in such an odd place. He was determined to find out why.
"Dad why do the neighbours have strange mirrors on their roof?" asked Ben. "They are not mirrors Ben, they are called solar panels. They are used to collect energy from the sun which then creates electricity. They can then use that electricity to turn on lights and to cook food" said Dad.
Can you help Ben to understand how the sun creates electricity?
After speaking to his Dad, Ben went back into his bedroom and sat on his bed. He was confused as to how the sun can create electricity.
Ben decided to go back outside and look at the sun. "How can that possibly make electricity?" he said to himself.
