Emily, I think you're ready to move on to black belt training.
Refusal of the Call
Such a big change! I'm not ready for it.
I have been going to karate for eight years. I trained har and worked towards getting black belt. Along the way, I built a second family, who helped me throughout my journeys.
Meeting with the Mentor
I believe in you.
One of my instructors told me that I was ready to begin my journey to black belt. This involved special classes and harder training. Just the thought of moving on terrified me.
Crossing the Threshold
This is a lot of new work
I was very nervous about moving on in karate and didn't want to. I knew I was ready yet still felt like I wasn't ready enough. The thought of moving on was terrifying and I didn't want such a big part of my life to change.
Test, Allies, & Enemies
When my family found out they were all so excited for me. Then, my sister noticed how nervous I was and she promised that I was ready. She told me that she would help me train and prepare.
Special classes started to train us for black belt. They called it black belt prep and it was a little much adding a whole three new classes to my already busy schedule, but I did it.
I met some people in these classes that I've never talked to even though they are in my class. Some of us became super close and still talk to this day. It was nice knowing that I had some friends who were just as scared as I was.
