Murad was on a boat headed to Spain to start a new life. A girl named Faten is right beside Murad on the crowded boat. Across from Murad is Aziz, a tall and lanky man. Next to Aziz is a a middle-aged man with greasy who looks like Scarface. There is a mother named Halima and her two sons and daughter sitting next to Scarface. To Murad's right is a African women.
Rafal couldn't get the motor to start and everyone start arguing and worrying. Faten says that the trip is cursed and starts to recite a verse. Scarfacew tells her to be quiet, but she starts to pray faster. Rafal still can't get the boat to start and don't know if it is the spark plug. Faten starts to cry, so Scarface gets in her face. Everyone else tells him to stop and he finally stops but after some arguing.
Rahal shouts at everyone on the boat that they have to swim the rest of the way to the shore. Murad and most of the other passengers stand stunned. They were expected to be taken all the way to the shore, but Rafal won't go the whole way.
Murad is in the water now and sees that everyone on the boat are slowly scattering. He swims toward the coast, hopping he doesn't get swept up in the current. He hears Fatan call out behind him. He lets her hold on to him. She tightens her grip and keeps panicking, only to make them bob in the water. He pushes her away hoping she will calm down. He's drifting away but still yells instructions to her so she can make it to the shore.
He lies on the beach with the sun rising in the distance. The sand around him warms up but then cools down again. He lays there a while, then gets to his feet. Murad knows he doesn't have long until the Guardio Civil comes after them. He uses his mobile phone to call a Spaniard that will drive him north to Catalonia.
An officer from the Guardio Civil Takes him to the Guardio Civil post. Murad sits in a metal chair handcuffed. If he would have landed a few hundred meters west, of the buildings and hotel, he might have been able to escape. he sees Fatan outside, which gives him a sense of relief. Murad is sent to a cell that already has other prisoners in it. He thinks to him self that if could convince his mom to sell all seven of her bracelets, he could take another trip. The next time, he would make it.
