  • Cayin and Hevel were brothers. Cayin was a farmer and Hevel was a shepherd.

  • Hevel wanted to give a sacrifice so Cayin did too. Hevel brought his best sheep, while Cayin brought his lowest quality grain.
  • why did you accept my brothers offer but not mine?
  • you have to change your mindset and philosophy. you can't be so arrogant and unappreciative. Your brother has the right philosophy on life and understands what is important.
  • Hashem didn't accept Cayin's sacrifice.
  • Instead of trying to change and be better, Cayin killed his brother out of resentment for Hevel being the person that he should have tried to be but didn't want to.
  • I do not know. Am I my bothers keeper?

  • Hashem asks Cayin where Hevel is, knowing very well that he killed his brother, to see if Cayin would tell the truth. 
  • You will not be known to me, you will live in exile, and you will struggle with the land for the rest of your life.
  • When Cayin lies, Hashem decides to punish him for, not doing chessed, killing his brother, and then lying.
