  • While peasants could not afford the land they worked.
  • 
  • On January 22nd, 1905, citizens gathered in St. Petersburg to peacefully protest their mistreatment by the Czar (Nicholas II).
  • HEAR OUR CRIES

  • The idea of reform enraged NIcholas. He sent troops of soldiers to the scene to attack the protesters.
  • 
  • What would Alexander III do...?
  • 
  • The soldiers opened fire, wounding and murdering many innocent protesters.
  • 
  • As a result, citizens began violent protests. There were riots, revolts, and strikes occurring throughout all of Russia.
