The Battle of Yorktown By: Emma Rodriguez Period 5
General George Washington and Rochambeau aligned both of their countries, France and America for the purpose of France helping America gain independence.
Please help our nation!!!
After Washington and the French troops learned of the British being trapped in Yorktown, Virginia, they marched for 15 days to reach Yorktown.
The French and American troops surrounded the British, trapping them with nowhere to go.
Cornwallis finally surrendered after 11 days in Yorktown.
The day was Oct. 19, 1781 when Cornwallis signed Britain's surrender. The war had been won by the Americans, and the U.S.A would be recognized as its own nation after the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783.
