"My husband is so full of jealousy (...) Unless you watch your step and hold your breath (...) I know for certain it will be death"
In Oxford, there lived a carpenter (John). The carpenter is very jealous over his beautiful young wife Allison. Boarding in his house was a young scholar named Nicholas.
Nicholas and Alison began an affair, and Absolon makes an attempt to win Allison over, however, his attempt is unsuccessful.
Allison is afraid that John will catch her with Nicholas so they convince John that Noah's flood is coming again, and John needs to sleep in a bathtub hanging from the ceiling. John proceeds to climb into the tub leaving Nicholas and Allison alone.
Absolon goes to Allison's house and tries to kiss Allison, however, she just humiliates him. Because of this, Absolon asks for a second kiss to seek vengeance instead he ends up kissing Nicholas's buttocks and Absolon stabs him with a hot poker. When John hears Nicholas cry he cuts the rope from the rafter.
As john falls from the roof, the townspeople hear his cry as well and come running.
The townspeople find John's incidence hilarious. Allison and Nicholas use the opportunity to take away John's credibility by stating John has gone mad.
