Normal day in Mr Smith's English class. Claire, Jimmy and Sophie are not paying attention as sir is talking. Sir noticing this, is starting to become annoyed with the class.
Sir tells the class off for speaking when he is. He tells the class as a whole so that it feels fair. Sir just wants to teach and make the lesson as fun as possible for the students.
After this, Sir turned to go to the board. Sophie turned and started whispering things to Claire. Claire was worried she would get into trouble and tried to ignore Sophie. However Sophie started to get louder so Claire whispered to her to be quiet.
Sir heard Sophie whispering to Claire but didn't hear what she said. Because of this sir thought that it was Sophie who was talking when he had told the class to be quiet. Sir was very annoyed and shouted at Sophie for speaking when they were asked not to.
Sophie got very upset because she felt like she had done nothing wrong. Claire was the one who should be in trouble and not her. Sir was annoyed because this was important content that the class needed to know.
Questions - Do you understand how both people felt? Can you understand sirs point of view? Can you understand Sophie? Why do you think Claire was talking to her? What options did Sophie have? What could she to explain what happened to sir?
