  • Factors that led to the Revolution
  • Meeting of the Estates General
  • An uprising in France against the monarchy, which resulted in the establishment of France as a republic. Lasted Between 1789 and 1799.
  • The Tennis Court Oath
  • 1. Growing resentment among lower classes 2. New ideas about government 3. Serious economic problems 4. Weak/indecisive leadership 5. Food Shortage
  • The Storming of the Bastille
  • The meeting of the Estates general, a gathering among all the estates, was where every estate got one vote. The third estate wanted to tax the second estate, but of course they were outnumbered and angry with their king.
  • The Great Fear
  • The National Assembly wanted to meet, but were shortly kicked out of their room. Instead, They broke down the doors to an indoor tennis court and made a new constitution.
  • Rumors in Paris spread that the King was sending people to fight the third estate. The third estate decided to raid a Bastille for weapons and to free prisoners.
  • A wave of senseless panic that made peasants become outlaws because of rumors of attacks by King Louis.
