After slaying the fellow suitors Odysseus goes to find Penelope and reclaim his love.
It is I! Your husband Odysseus, after 20 years I would have thought you would be happy to see me! Servant make me a separate bed for me to sleep in!
But Penelope has seen many gods try to trick her by disguising themselves as Odysseus.
How do I know if this is the real Odysseus? Many men have come to try and trick me! Wait I have an idea!
And now Penelope was going to test Odysseus by seeing if he knows about the secret bed frame that he built and cannot be moved. It was their secret, she tells the maidservant to carry the royal bed into another chamber for him to sleep on.
Why don't you just move the royal bed from my chamber into another chamber for him to sleep on.
Odysseus is outraged and taken back, he passes Penelope's test and proves himself as the real Odysseus by revealing their secret of the bedpost and how he crafted it from a tree.
How dare you say that! It is unmoveable and I know because I made it myself, planted into the floor from a tree and unable to be budged. It is a symbol of our love!
Penelope sees that this man is the real Odysseus, she cries of joy as she has finally found her love.
It truly is you Odysseus! That was just a test, I have been deceived for years but I have finally found you!
