  • Style
  • "Even death did not mar its grace, for it lay on the earth like a broken vase of red flowers, and we stood around it, awed by its exotic beauty." This quote is very poetic and gives off a feeling.  It gives to imargery of something beautiful's death.

  • The dead Scarlet Ibis is powerful imagery that represents Doodle. Doodle is weak and alone, far away from home and weak. It died alone and away from home.
  • The style is narrative. the story has a narrator. The reader gets to know what he was thinking. The story was in past tense.
  • The theme of the story is that death is enviable. No matter how hard you try to avoid it or prolong it, it will come.
