Storyboard Text

  • Hey I'm Dr.Joel and today I'm doing chemistry! Come along for a tour!
  • This is where the daily science news report is done. On today's report is the Law of Conservation of Mass.
  • The Law of Conservation of Mass states that matter can not be created or destroyed and the number of atoms  and the mass must be the same at the beginning and end of the equation.
  • In the Kitchen is where chemical reactions and both physical and chemical changes occur.
  • Chemical reactions occurs when a substance combines with another to form a new substance, like baking.
  • A chemical reaction happened when the cupcakes were baked and the yeast rose.
  • In our cafe these cupcakes are great examples of chemical reactions.
  • In the lab I practice chemical formulas. A chemical formula is a way of presenting information about the chemical proportions of atoms in a molecule,
  • These flowers are practicing photosynthesis which has a chemical  formula of 6CO2 + 6H2O = C6H12O6 + 6O2.
  • This is my co-worker Jane, shes been monitoring the physical changes of ice caps.
  • A physical change is a change affecting the shape of something, but doesn't change the elements.
  • These ice caps are melting, therefore undergoing a physical change
