In her first memory, Jeannette is in the kitchen cooking when she lights herself on fire. Showing how unattended to she is.
When Jeannette is younger her and her family go to the California desert often because her mother, Rose Mary, loves it and so does her father, Rex.
The conflict Jeannette has is that loves her family desperately, but wishes to leave. Her parents are not adequate in any way that they raise her and her siblings, Lori, Brian, and Maureen.
the climax is when Jeannette and her siblings leave their parents behind.
When they all live in New Your, their parents decided t follow them. They live homeless because the are not as successful as their kids and they prefer to live that way.
The theme of this story is to forgive. Jeannette always finds herself forgiving her parents, no matter what they do, she ends up living her life as she believes she should.
