  • From now on Meriwether Lewis, you will be my private secretary.
  • Lewis was known as an explorer, soldier, politician,  and a public administrator. Born in 1774 in Virginia, he was asked to be the private secretary of Thomas Jefferson in 1801
  • Plot Summary
  • The movie really helps you learn about the expedition west because it shows you the map and that's really important knowing where people are. In my opinion the video will really help people that don't know anything about the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
  • William Clark was a American explorer, soldier, Indian agent, and territorial governor. He was born in August 1, 1770 in Ladysmith, Virginia.  The journey began when Meriwether Lewis invited him to share command of an expedition of the lands west of the Mississippi River. They encountered native americans. One of them was a girl called Sacagawea. Then there was a Shoshone Indian, and her French-Canadian trader husband called Toussaint Charbonneau, and they joined their journey. They were the interpreters.
  • My review
  • Thomas Jefferson was born April 13, 1743, Shadwell, Virginia. During his two terms in office (1801-1809), the U.S. purchased the Louisiana Territory and Lewis and Clark explored the land.
  • Approved
  •  The United States purchased Louisiana from France in 1803. The huge part of the land west of the Mississippi River was completely unknown to Americans and needed to be examined first before it could be settled. President Jefferson decided to send an exploratory expedition west so he appointed his own private secretary, Meriwether Lewis as a Commander in charge of the expedition and finding appropriate guides for it. Lewis invited his former superior officer from the Army, William Clark, to be his Co-commander.
