  • There should be a law that boats have to slow down around lighthouses.
  • First the bill goes into the House standig committee
  • We want new legislation in that bill!
  • We want special advangates.
  • Second, the House floor votes on the bill
  • If the bills aren't the same they go to conference committee
  • Then the Senate votes on the bill
  • I want to attach funds to suport art museums around the country.
  • If the bills are the same, they go straight to the president
  • Lastly, they compare the bills to see if they are the same
  • This is where markup occurs
  • Then the bill goes to conference committee
  • Where they will decrease funds supporting the law making boats slow down around lighthouses.
  • Conference committee makes sure the bills are the same
  • The House and the Senate vote on the bill.
  • If they vote yes, the bill goes to the President
  • If they vote no, then the bill dies
  • I signed this bill into law
  • If I veto the bill, then it will go back to Congress and they will try to override me.
