  • This is Japan's land now!
  • US Oil/Steel Embargo on Japan
  • You can no longer ship things on this canal.
  • Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and the Suprise Attack
  • Japanese government turned expansion into a systematic goal.  This systematic goal was for security was often for national pride.
  • War Declaration
  • We will declare war at Pearl Harbor
  • Japan lost access to three-fourths of its overseas trade and 88 percent of its imported oil.  The oil they had would only last them three years.  
  • FDR/"Date which will live in infamy"
  • The Japanese sent two waves of attacks by airplane.  One of the ships that sank was the USS Arizona.
  • Japan needs recources
  • We must get natural recources from the US!
  • The declaration of war by Japan on the United States and the British Empire was published on December 8, 1941.  This was the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor.  
  • FDR gives a speech asking for a drclaration of war.  This happened on December 8, 1941.  
  • The lack of recources in Japan is what led to the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Japan's oil recources were cut off.
